LaPerm, Cornish Rex |
Who is the crazy cat lady, anyway?
Christina
Cruse has owned LaPerm and Cornish Rex since 2004. She spent most of her adult
life focusing on rescuing animals, primarily ex-racing greyhounds,
Italian greyhounds, horses, and exotic small pets. She is a charter
member of the Italian Greyhound Safehouse Alliance, and always has a
full house of rescue dogs, cats, birds and other various creatures. She began her love affair with curly cats in late 2004 when she met Dr Kathryn Owen & Sarah Walker (Kenwyn Cattery) simply by chance at the vet's office. Thanks to their friendship & care, this cattery was born. Through ACFA President, Carol Barbee, Christina was introduced to the single greatest influence on her cattery, Kathryn Troklus of Lur-O-Luv. Kitty & her late husband Jack raised Cornish Rex for more than 30 years. They were respected breeders & judges. After Jack's death in 2005, Kitty entrusted their decades of love & hard work to Christina, offering her their most beloved cats. GC, RW, Lur-O-Luv Iceman is a permanent resident of the Obsidian household and we will cherish him for the beauty that he is and the love that his legacy carries. In that same year, while assisting Purebred Cat Rescue with transporting a cat from a shelter in Iowa, she was introduced to, and fell in love with LaPerms. The little scruffy cat she retrieved from a city pound grew into SR Entertaining Angels of Obsidian, her very first show cat. Christina credits her continued love of these breeds to mentors Mark & Sharon McKenzie of INRxS, as well as her friends at Cozmecats, Arohanui. Sophistikats, Nianguaview, Quatrepaws, Delian, Mayonaka, and many others. Christina & her daughter, Hope, spend much of their free time at home with their furkids. Hope is an integral part of the Obsidian Cattery. Christina firmly believes their kittens are as happy and laid-back as they are because Hope spends so much time with them. |
